New Camp Experience for Children with Chronic Heart Disease or Heart Transplants
Claryville, NY – The Frost Valley YMCA, in partnership with The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, is introducing Hearts in the Valley camp, a summer camp experience for children who have chronic heart disease or heart transplants. The camp will offer the unique opportunity for these children to participate in camp activities like hiking, horseback riding and campfires under the stars along with other campers.
The Hearts in the Valley camp will be held August 8 – 20, 2010 at the Frost Valley YMCA. This first year will be a pilot camp for 6-8 children from the tri-state area. Renewed, renovated, and open for the summer of 2010, YMCA Camp WaWa Segowea in the Berkshires is ready to serve area children.
YMCA Camp WaWa Segowea is open this summer for children ages 7 – 16 with one-week sessions starting July 4 through August 20. Nestled on 500 acres in the Berkshire Mountains near Great Barrington, MA; Camp WaWa features a private lake, with renovated facilities including the main dining hall, 11 camper cabins, a shower house, health/first aid lodge, a 5-acre athletic field, and a trail system that surrounds the lake. The Cost of Living Index Calculator is accessible via the Capital District Regional Planning Commission’s Web site at www.cdrpc.org.
The Calculator allows individuals to calculate the cost of living index comparing the Capital Region to other regions across the United States. It is considered the most reliable source of region-to-region quarterly comparisons of key consumer costs and is referenced in the Census Bureau’s Statistical Abstract of the United States. ALBANY, NY June 14, 2010 — Today the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) has installed the first of 17 bronze sculptures by artist Seward Johnson placed strategically around downtown Albany for the 2010 Sculpture in the Streets public art exhibit. Notably the first sculpture installed is a two-story tall piece entitled, “Whispering Close” based on Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s “Dance in the City” and recalling an elegant and romantic era in Albany’s history. Omni Development Company, Inc., long-time Sculpture in the Streets supporter, is this year’s presenting sponsor of Sculpture in the Streets and sponsor of this particular piece. “Whispering Close” can be found in Federal Plaza – the intersection of Broadway, Clinton Avenue and North Pearl Street – for the duration of the exhibit which runs from June 18th through October 2010.
