TROY, NY – On Wednesday, July 28th, the Tri-City ValleyCats will hold the third annual “Going Green Night” at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

Prior to the ValleyCats 7pm game versus the Red Sox affiliate Lowell Spinners, the NYS Consumer Pro-tection Board, 3N Document Destruction, and the ValleyCats will host “Shred-the-Word!”, a document shredding event. With identity theft on the rise, shredding invaluable documents is as important as its even been. In order to protect your identity, the shredding truck will be located at Joseph L. Bruno Sta-dium from 3pm to 6pm in the parking lot outside the stadium.

SEFCU has donated 5,000 reusable grocery bags to be handed out during the game and Gallivan Com-panies will be handing out eco-friendly “going green” awareness bracelets as well as drawstring bags made from recycled materials. Other eco-friendly giveaways will be handed out [...]

Albany, NY – The City of Albany Office of Special Events is seeking visual artists for a lunchtime exhibition at the 8th annual September in the City Art Fair in TriCentennial Park (Broadway, in Downtown Albany). Artists will be able to display and sell their work on September 1, 8 ,15,22 & 29 (Wednesdays) from 11:30 am to 2: 00 pm.

Eligibility: Painting (watercolor, acrylic, pastel, oil, etc.) sculpture, prints, photography (all) and mixed media. No Crafts.

All exhibitors must be 18 years or older.

Cost: $10 per day OR $45 to exhibit all 5 Wednesdays.

Deadline for submission: August 13, 2010.

CapitalTROY, NYThe Tri-City ValleyCats baseball team and Brown’s Brewing Company have part-nered to present the Capital Region Craft Brewers Festival – the first major brewers festival in the Capital Region to be hosted by the New York State Brewers Association. The festival will be held this Saturday, July 24 from 2:30 until 6:30 pm at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY.

Doc Watson To Perform At The Egg

Doc Watson will perform at The Egg on Sunday, August 1st at 7:30 PM as part of the American Roots & Branches Concert series.

Doc Watson, one of the most admired and imitated traditional country musicians in America, performs his classic mix of mountain music, blues and early country music accompanied by guitarist Richard Watson, banjo player David Holt and bassist T. Michael Coleman.

When just a child in Deep Gap, North Carolina, Doc Watson mastered the harmonica, and then the fretless banjo. At the age of 13, he began playing guitar after his cousin introduced him to the instrument. In 1941, Mr. Watson joined a band that had a regular radio program in Lenoir, NC. He earned his nickname on this show. In 1947, he married Rosa Lee Carlton, the daughter of fiddler [...]

THE EGG ANNOUNCES DANCE, MUSIC, AND FAMILY PERFORMANCES FOR 2010-11

The Egg has announced its 2010-11 Dance New York & The World Series and Family Wonders Series as well as additional American Roots & Branches and Rhythm International concerts.

The Dance New York season will be anchored by two of the Empire State’s longest tenured and most admired choreographer-led companies – the Mark Morris Dance Group (September 24) and Paul Taylor Dance Company (April 16).
