JULY 30, 2010 (Williamsburg, VA) — Step 3 Entertainment’s upcoming “Trevor Tour” will be used to raise money for the nationally known Trevor Project.

The Trevor Project is the non-profit organization that operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention lifeline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

This organization has high profile support from many Hollywood celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris and Daniel Radcliffe, both of whom are actively involved.

This tour will be releasing the official “INDIGO” CD to all attendees of the benefit. “INDIGO” is the official compilation CD of the Trevor Tour that was produced by Step 3 Entertainment LLC to help raise awareness and money for The Trevor Project.

Albany, NY – The City of Albany Office of Special Events is seeking visual artists for a lunchtime exhibition at the September in the City Art Fair in TriCentennial Park. Artists will be able to display and sell their work on September 1, 8,15, 22 & 29 (Wednesdays) from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Eligibility: Painting (watercolor, acrylic, pastel, oil, etc.) sculpture, prints, photography (all) and mixed media. No Crafts. All exhibitors must be 18 years or older.

Cost: $10 per day OR $45 to exhibit all 5 Wednesdays.

Deadline for submission has been EXTENDED to August 31, 2010. Applications are available at www.albanyevents.org OR you can request an application:

This past weekend hundreds of visitors and residents came into the village of North Creek for Race The Train, WayneStock, the Tri County Auxiliary Bazaar and Artists and Authors at the Hudson. Welcoming them were colorful new banners adorning the primary entrance to the village of North Creek.

The volunteer efforts were spearheaded by the marketing subcommittee of the Business Alliance. This group of women business owners who have “entertainingly” called themselves “WOW” or Women of Wisdom, consists of Sharon Taylor the Alpine Lodge, Lisa Thomas of Trimmers, Mary Ann and Anna Bowers of bar Vino, Poiema and the Vault, Kathleen Bennett of Braley & Noxon Hardware, Helen Miner of The Owens House Educational Center, Andy Waldron at Andie’s at Smiths, Laura Pierson of Laura’s Tavern, Sarah Hayden of Café Sarah, Mary Jane Lang of Cunningham’s Ski Barn, and Laurie Arnheiter of [...]

ALTAMONT, NY (August 13, 2010) – The Capital Region’s Hometown Fair, the Altamont Fair, is celebrating its 117th year. The fair begins Tuesday, August 17 and runs through Sunday, August 22. Directions and hours of operation are located here.

This year, the Altamont Fair will not only focus on family fun, education, and entertainment but they will provide guests with new record low all-inclusive admission prices. All tickets include admission, rides, shows and parking for just $15. Attendees can also purchase $14 tickets online by August 15.

This year’s most extreme fundraiser brings business owners and media out to support!

Albany, NY – On August 20th, participants will face their fears and rappel 18 stories down the State Street side of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Downtown Albany. Each participant will have raised $1,000 to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity. The chance to rappel is completely exclusive and can only be done in this area through Special Olympics New York! Over the Edge promises to be THE event of the summer!

Local business owners and media have graciously taken up the charge to support this extreme event on August 20, 2010.

Over the Edge is a unique opportunity for individuals to rappel off the Crowne Plaza in Downtown Albany while raising much needed funds for the athletes of Special Olympics New York. This one of a kind fundraiser has shown incredible success for Special Olympics organizations across the country. In November, Special Olympics Hawaii raised over $170,000 by sending 120 participants Over the Edge of the Sheraton Waikiki! We hope to mirror this success locally!

The Latin music sextet Sol y Canto is joined by the Sweet Plantain String Quartet to perform the suite “Sabor y Memoria (Flavor & Memory) – with rhythms from Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela.

Sol y Canto is a nationally-touring Pan-Latin ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and bongo player Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador. The group was formed in 1994, although the founding members performed for ten years prior in the ensemble Flor de Cana. REGINA CARTER TO PERFORM AT THE EGG

Regina Carter will perform at The Egg on Saturday, September 25 at 8:00 PM as part of the American Roots & Branches Concert series.

Considered by many as the day’s finest jazz violinist, Regina Carter now explores a world of hypnotically beautiful African folk melodies as heard on her critically acclaimed recording Reverse Thread.

Regina Carter was born in 1966 in Detroit, Michigan and started studying the violin at age 4. She exhibited an extraordinary talent from the very beginning and eventually enrolled in master classes taught by classical virtuosos Itzhak Perlman and Yehudi Menuhin. Learning the violin first by the innovative Suzuki method, in which children learn tunes by imitation rather than by reading music, Ms. Carter did not learn to read music until she was ten.
