The Women’s Business Council (WBC) of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber is pleased to announce its Adopted Nonprofit for 2011 –– the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless. The organization was chosen from a large pool of deserving candidates, and the WBC feels confident that raising awareness and supporting the homeless population in the Capital Region will be a mutually beneficial partnership.
The WBC’s Adopted Nonprofit program began in 2002 as a means to educate and increase awareness of local nonprofit agencies, and to provide volunteer opportunities for WBC members.
There are several ways that WBC members will be able to connect with and assist the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless; these details will be forthcoming at its January 18 meeting at 11:30 a.m. at The Century House in Latham and in future communications.

Albany, NY - Mayor Jerry Jennings, the City of Albany and the Tulip Festival Committee seek nominations for the 2011 Tulip Queen.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Nominees must have a strong sense of community, be knowledgeable of Albany, and possess leadership skills. Eligible nominees are women between the ages of 18 and 23, never married and residing in Albany County for the entire year of reign (May 2011 – May 2012). www.albanytulipqueen.com explores the past and present achievements these extraordinary women are capable of reaching.
SCHOLARSHIP:
The Tulip Queen will be awarded a $5000 scholarship, and each court member will receive a $1500 scholarship award upon completion of the year of reign.
MISSION:
The Tulip Queen & Court members will serve as Albany’s ambassadors for one full year of reign. These ambitious young women will place a major focus on the Mayor Jerry Jennings Literacy Campaign [...]
