Queensbury, NY – Father, Gary Higley and son, Andrew of The Sports Page Ski Shop flew back from Denver, Colorado two weeks ago with big, heartfelt smiles as they brought home the award for Best Backshop Ski Tuning in the nation to their family, staff, and customers. The inaugural Skiing Business awards were presented in conjunction with the Snowsports Industries America trade show in Denver, Colorado as a way to recognize those who make the ski industry progress. The Sports Page Ski Shop was nominated by ski industry manufacturers and reps for the award.
“We are truly honored to bring home this award to share with our family, staff, and all of our wonderful customers,” says Gary Higley, Owner. “For years, our team has strived to outperform the ski manufacturers’ ability to provide a great skiing experience off the rack. With recent advancements in technology, and our ability to require companies to re-calibrate modern machines to our specs, we are now able to tune products to exact angles, with flat bases. As a result, our customers receive the ultimate performance and fun skiing experience.”
The Sports Page Ski Shop was founded in 1982 by Gary and Susan Higley. Originally a multisport retail store, The Sports Page Ski Shop evolved into a specialty ski and snowboard shop in the mid 80′s. Gary took his passion and experience as a nationally ranked ski racer to the business world, where he and wife, Susan built a reputation throughout the Northeast for providing expert ski services. Today, Gary, Susan, and son’s Justin and Andrew, who are both former New York State Champions and top seeded FIS racers, run the store and are there every minute it’s open.
