NanoDays at the Schenectady Museum & Suits-Bueche Planetarium is part of a nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering. Visitors can explore nanotechnology, the science of building things at the atomic level, at the Museum 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31 through Sunday, April 3. Museum educators will lead nano demonstrations and hands-on activities.
“The Schenectady Museum is thrilled to be participating in NanoDays again this year,” notes Schenectady Museum Education Manager Megan Dominguez. “We are continually looking for ways to augment our informal science education offerings and our four days of special nanotechnology programming will be a fun way for children and families to learn about an area of science so small you can’t even see it!”
NanoDays is organized by the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net), and takes place nationally from March 26 through April 3, 2011. [...]

(Albany) – The Chamber’s Small Business Council will present this year’s Small Business Awards on Wednesday, April 20 during a Special Breakfast Forum with Peter George, speaker, author and creator of the “More Clients More Profits Marketing System,” at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center.
In keeping with the focus on business success, George will provide tips from his latest work, “101 Ways to Attract More Clients,” that are designed to help companies consistently attract the clients with whom they want to do business.

TROY, NY– The defending New York-Penn League Champion Tri-City ValleyCats, Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros, have released the promotional schedule for their 10th anniversary 2011 season. It all begins on Friday, June 17 when the ValleyCats will raise the New York-Penn League championship banner before their opening night matchup versus Stedler Division rival Vermont Lake Monsters. Fans in attendance will receive a 2011 schedule magnet courtesy of Garelick Farms and will enjoy the first fireworks extravaganza of the summer, sponsored by Price Chopper. There will be a total of fifteen fireworks shows throughout the season.
Opening Weekend continues on Saturday night with more fireworks and concludes on Sunday, June 19 with a Father’s Day Celebration. If you’re working on a Scout badge by yourself or together with your troop, come to the Schenectady Museum & Suits-Beuche Planetarium this March for workshops led by Museum educators and utilizing the Museum’s vast Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) resources, such as the Planetarium’s GOTO Star Machine!
The Museum will offer three Scout Workshops during March:
• Boy Scout Space Exploration Workshop
Thursday, March 17, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Learn about the history and future of space exploration. See discoveries made from manned and unmanned spacecraft and learn about the space shuttle. To complete Boy Scout badge requirements, attend the workshop and complete the downloaded Space Exploration work packet. When finished, schedule a time to review it with a Merit Badge Counselor to have Blue Cards signed. $8 per scout / $4 per adult

Sorelle Gallery in Stuyvesant Plaza presents “Convergence: An Art Show & Benefit.” Sorelle will be showcasing six of its artists, with up to 50 pieces of work from each, on Saturday, March 19, for one night only between 3 and 9 pm. The event will take place at 6 Executive Park Drive, Building B, in Stuyvesant Plaza rather than the gallery due to the size of this show. Wine will be served by Ramian Estate and hors d’oeuvres by Provence and Creo. This will be the first of 4 major upcoming shows and 5% of the proceeds will benefit Capital Repertory Theatre.
