World Series trophy on display Thursday at “The Joe”
HVCC vs. RPI baseball game to backdrop trophy viewing
TROY, NY– On Thursday night from 5-7pm, the San Francisco Giants 2010 World Series trophy will be displayed at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

ALBANY, NY – On May 6, 2011 at 12:00pm, the annual Street Scrubbing will take place at State and Lodge Streets. This will mark the beginning of the 63rd Albany Tulip Festival.
The traditional Dutch practice of scrubbing the streets before a big event features a Mayoral Proclamation, the Albany Police Pipes & Drums, the Dutch Settlers Society, the 2011 Tulip Queen Finalists, and a performance of the National Anthem by 11-year-old singing sensation Anthony Gargiula. Hosted by Joe Condon of B95.5 FM.

Elken named ValleyCats broadcaster for 2011 season
Capital Region native enters first season as ‘Cats broadcaster
TROY, NY– The Tri-City ValleyCats, New York-Penn League Class-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, are excited to announce that Erik Elken has been named the official broadcaster for their 2011 season.
An Albany, New York native, Elken graduated from Syracuse University in 2010 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Sport Management. He was a member of both the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the College of Human Ecology.

The 13th Annual Mother of the Year Contest Finalists Announced
ALBANY, NY— The City of Albany and St. Peter’s Women’s and Children’s Services are proud to recognize compassionate Capital Region moms in the 13th Annual Mother of the Year Contest. The contest celebrates mothers who are committed to their families and communities while serving as positive role models and touching the lives of those around them.
More than 60 mothers were nominated this year, making the judging process difficult. Every nominee deserves congratulations. As some of the Capital Region’s most remarkable women, their love and devotion is appreciated by many.
