On Saturday, June 4, 2011, ANA will sponsor a continuing education program for nurses at the New York State Nurses Association headquarters in Loudonville, NY. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Internationally acclaimed author and speaker Sherokee Ilse, who has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and has spoken about pregnancy loss and infant death both in the U.S. and internationally, will present the 5 credit-hour program to healthcare professionals.
The program will address the challenges involved as healthcare staff strives to meet the needs of bereaved families, and how they can provide intentional and compassionate care that will positively impact the lives of those who endure miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death. Nurses, midwives, obstetricians and gynecologists and their staff; as well as emergency room, labor and delivery, and pediatric staff; EMT’s, and all who provide services to expectant and birthing families are invited to attend. Community members are also welcome.
“We receive requests regularly from hospital staff across the state who want to learn how to provide better care to bereaved families,” noted added ANA cofounder Michelle Mosca. “It is an emotionally trying experience for healthcare providers, and knowing what to say or do when facing these situations is empowering; they realize that they can make a difference.”
Tickets are available for a minimum donation of $79 for the 5 Credit Hour program, and include a light breakfast, refreshments, and lunch, as well as a certificate of completion at the end the program.
For more information and to register, visit ANA online at www.angelnames.org, or contact Michelle Mosca at email@example.com or 518-654-2411.
