Spark your children’s interest this School Break with a visit to the Schenectady Museum & Suits-Bueche Planetarium. The Museum is offering extended hours during break and will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 9 through Friday, April 13. Explore science, technology, engineering, and math through Hidden Power Demos, planetarium shows, and science activities.
The Museum is offering educator-led hands-on science activities and engineering challenges daily from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Drop in for a different activity each day!

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (March 26, 2012) – Elvis juggling three raccoons? Donald Trump swinging on a vine into the mouth of a shark?
Brad Zupp, a Wilton resident, used these images and more to win bronze medals in two events at the 15th annual USA Memory Championship, held Saturday in Manhattan. This year’s championship featured 51 competitors from all over the United States.
In the Speed Cards event, competitors attempted to remember a shuffled deck of cards in five minutes or less. Zupp received a bronze medal with a score of two minutes, six seconds.

ALBANY, NY – March 16, 2012 The Language Learning Institute is offering people a rare chance to have fun and immerse themselves in Italian culture with a trip to San Gemini, Italy during their annual Medieval Festival this fall.
“We have always been dedicated, not only to helping people learn the Italian language, but to understand Italian culture and history,” said Nancy Scarselletta, the school’s founder. “This trip offers an opportunity for all three immersions. On March 26, 2012, the sculptures, some as large as 14 feet high and 22 feet wide, will be taken down and returned to The George Rickey Foundation in East Chatham, NY. Lights, Camera, Archives! Schenectady Museum Goes Digital and Posts Rare Archival Films on New YouTube Channel
The Schenectady Museum is now presenting a collection of rare films from its General Electric film collection on a new YouTube channel: Schenectady Museum: Innovation and Tech Films. The archival collection includes more than 1,500 advertising, training, and educational films from 1915-1983, some of which have not been viewed by the public in over 90 years.
Films range from advertising and educational films to raw footage of equipment tests and company picnics. Many of the promotional films were originally shown in movie theatres in the days of newsreels and cartoons. ALBANY, NY (03/09/2012) — Starting today local artists representing the Albany Center Gallery (ACG) will participate in the Fountain Art Fair from March 9-11, 2012 in New York City. The exhibit will take place at the 69th Regiment Army, an iconic city landmark and site of the legendary 1913 Armory Show, which featured such artists as Matisse, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Seurat among many others. Albany – The Fourth Annual Albany Children’s Book Festival will welcome more than 70 children’s and young adult authors and illustrators on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
The Festival is a community event which is free and open to the public. Hosted by The Albany Academies, it will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Albany Academy for Girls campus located at 140 Academy Road in Albany.
