AMSTERDAM — The second annual Amsterdam Spring Fling returns to downtown Amsterdam on Main and Market Street on Saturday, May 19th from 10 am until 6 pm. Among the sea of exhibitors and vendors lining the blocks of the festival will be the “Show Time” Car Show, Smitka Brother’s “Big Bike” Show, and a host of more than 120 vendors representing the upstate community. Last year’s first-year attendance topped 3,500 for this special, FREE one-day event, held in conjunction with the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame induction weekend.

The festival offers a free opportunity to discover fabulous arts and crafts, indulge in delectable treats, groove to live music, tour the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, participate in or visit the free car and motorcycle shows and much more.

Musical entertainment includes the band “3 Of A Kind” on the East Main Street Stage beginning at 1 pm and DJ Tom Foster from noon until 4 pm at the MCT Federal Credit Union stage. JR & His Guitar will perform at the corner of Route 5 & East Main Street.

There will be lots for kids to do, including carnival rides and games, contests, demonstrations, face painting and more. Children of all ages will enjoy an informative wildlife program presented by Shawn Cebula of Beyond Human Wildlife Rehabilitation. Animal demonstrations will be at 1pm and 5 pm.

Community non-profit groups will be on hand to offer information and education on topics ranging from mental health, to veteran’s services, to domestic violence prevention, to neighborhood watch, medical insurance and more. Additionally, families looking to adopt a pet can visit the booths of the Montgomery County SPCA, Feline Guardian Angels, and the James A. Brennan Humane Society.

Visitors may dine on sumptuous goodies from the dozens of food vendors within the festival. There is something for every kind of appetite.

As one of the area’s largest festivals, this free event boasts an enormous marketplace featuring arts and crafts from talented artisans. Potters, jewelers, photographers, woodworkers, candle makers, and leather crafters will be among those presenting their goods. Among the featured vendors will be local favorites Chatter Box Boutique, Hummingbird Hills Winery, Stones & Bones, Old Peddler’s Wagon and many more.

This event is hosted by the City of Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Neighborhood Association, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and MCT Federal Credit Union. Sponsors include Napa Auto Parts, Adirondack Tire Centers, Advance Auto Parts, Vern’s Auto Body, Riverside Pizza, Browns Ford, Broadway Used Tire & Repair, Mangino Chevrolet, Car Quest Auto Parts, Smitka Brothers Route 67 Cycle Works, Sampson Motor Car, Tim’s Pool Hall, McDonald’s of Amsterdam, Amsterdam True Value, The Geek Pantology, Michael’s Hair Studio, Main Attraction Salon, and Fuccillo Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge.
