Albany, NY – September 4, 2012: Mark Lundholm, often lauded comedian and motivational speaker who has been featured on ABC, Comedy Central, Showtime and many other national broadcasts, brings his unique brand of humor to the Capital Region from September 10th through 12th.
September is widely known as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month and, as a tribute to this theme, the Addictions Care Center of Albany has invited Mark to perform a series of talks to generate community support and bring awareness to New York’s 2012 Recovery Month theme “Join the Voices for Recovery: It’s Worth It”.
Mark’s personal story has built-in credibility with every age group through his abusive childhood, drug & alcohol addled adolescence, homelessness, suicide attempt, and rehabs, ultimately landing him in San Quentin – where he tried making people laugh, changing his life, and a few around him forever.
Lundholm explains: ““Alcoholics and addicts have a deeper, darker sense of humor because we have lower bottoms for pain, loss, failure and grief. Nothing in life is truly funny unless it hurts first. When anyone is laughing at the darkness and stupidity my life had become, their defenses about their own problems fall away, and that’s when there’s a chance to reach them and get real changes in decision making.”
On the afternoon of September 10th, Mark will present his acclaimed residency program, “First Thought Wrong” at a luncheon for Capital Region substance abuse treatment providers, sponsored by Peter Young Housing, Industry & Treatment. In the evening, Mark will conduct a 2-Hour training at the Addictions Care Center of Albany for professionals in the health care field entitled, “Flexing Your Humor Muscle,” sponsored by Chem Rx.
On the afternoon of September 11th, Mark will present a CLE (Continuing Legal Education) training at the New York State Bar Association entitled, “Doing Nothing Is Not An Option,” sponsored by Gleason, Dunn, Walsh & O’Shea, Dreyer Boyajian, Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, James D. Wood, and the New York State Bar Association Lawyer’s Assistance Program. That evening, Mark will present a FREE 90-minute stand-up comedy show at Siena College entitled, “I’m Not Judgin’, I’m Just Sayin’,” sponsored by Coldwell Banker Prime Properties, Stewart’s Shops and Siena College.
On the morning of September 12th, Mark will present a FREE comedy lecture entitled, “Freedom Isn’t Free” for local veterans held at the Addictions Care Center of Albany, sponsored by Soldier On, Inc.. That evening, a special dinner and comedy show, “Laughter Is No Luxury” will be held at Taste restaurant in Albany, sponsored by Burns Management, CDPHP, Comfortex Window Fashions, Energy Insurance Brokers, Meridian Capital Partners, New York Recovery Foundation, Repeat Business Systems, Soldier On, Inc., Paul Ehmann, and April Volk.
All proceeds from Lundholm’s residency program will go to support the Addictions Care Center of Albany — a community-based non-profit that has provided over 45 years of quality substance abuse treatment and prevention services to the Capital Region.

About Mark Lundholm-
