Ruth and Frank were professional and helpful throughout the entire planning process. They also made us laugh a lot which helps as the wedding planning process can become stressful at times. Crystal Cove is a warm and happy environment and a hidden treasure. We highly recommend Crystal Cove as we felt it made our wedding unique, yet exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Ruth and Frank!
We were originally a little wary about not being able to taste any of the food. I understood why....they weren't going to cook a huge beef roast so we could try it. But it made us a little uncomfortable. My husband said at the time "When you listen to Frank talk about food....you just know he can cook." So we took a chance. The venue is beautiful, and they were nice enough.
On the day of our wedding, the food was absolutely wonderful. We had the carving stations. The beef was perfect. The turkey was probably the best I have ever eaten. The mashed potatoes were great!!
Frank and Ruth did a fantastic job organizing everything. We had an itinerary down to the minute for our wedding day. They were accommodating, gracious, and are both great at what they do. Ruth handled our rehearsal, and the day of everything went off without a hitch.
The wedding hall is like taking a ballroom (with wood floors and chandeliers) and sticking it in a pavilion outside with a deck surrounding it on 3 sides. You get the feel of a nice indoor space, while having the breezy, open feeling of an outdoor wedding.
It is definintely worth the time to take a look at Crystal Cove. We were completely sastisfied with every aspect of our wedding, and are happy we decided to have it there.
Thank you, Frank and Ruth, for everything.

The site is on a beautiful, clear lake and surrounded by birch and pine trees. In order not to compete with that view, the pavilion is a simple, sort of Arts and Crafts wooden affair. It's quite large and roofed over, open on 3 sides. It has a wide deck on 3 sides and a gazebo on one corner, which is what we used for our ceremony. It was clean, and it was pretty.
Let me tell you about the food. It would have come out exactly when promised, except we had a stroke of luck and were able to do pictures before the ceremony, which meant we were running ahead of schedule. We asked, and they were able to move up dinner service by half an hour! That is the kind of service we were told you simply could not expect from a wedding venue, but we got it from Ruth and Frank!
We had a guest with a lethal allergy to potatoes, a guest with celiac disease, and a guest who's allergic to corn and soy. There was also a vegetarian and somebody who keeps kosher. I'm allergic to soy and dairy. Frank is not only a good cook; he knows those hidden ingredients off the top of his head and knows exactly what goes into each dish, down to the stocks and sauces. There was no cross-contamination. Everybody ate well. The food was amazing. The Steamship Round was on par with the meat you get at Century House, which is saying something. (The au jus was BETTER.) I could sit there and eat Frank's homemade Green Goddess dressing off a spoon, but probably shouldn't. ;)
If you like nature or rustic settings, hearty delicious food, and a relaxed approach to wedding planning (not sloppy, just laid back and happy) then you definitely need to check this place out. I would particularly recommend it for people who wished they could have a barn or woods wedding, but find it logistically impossible. It is the perfect compromise, and once you see that lake and have a whiff of Frank's cooking, you will be convinced!
