Olympic Diner

We were looking for restaurants in Amsterdam New York as we were starving heading north from Howe Caverns. The first restaurant Yelp sent us to was closed, the second had zero cars in the lot at 6pm so we saw a ton of cars at the Olympic Diner and thought that was a good sign.

I would not order the "fancy foods" at this diner based on other reviews and how much food was left on those plates. They appeared to be greek so I had the souvlaki which was great until when for the next fouyr hours later I still tasted the garlic. Typical restaurant mistake is to serve garlic from a jar instead of fresh garlic, it goes rancid and it tastes ok until you taste it forever after. Annoyingly there was a fly that would not leave us alone at dinner. Kids liked their fried chicken nuggetts, hot turkey mashed and gravy. Desserts were tasty. service was good and friendly, Wine and beer choices were limited: Mondavi or Glen Ellen or Bud,Corona or Heineken.
