The Fourth Annual Albany Children’s Book Festival will welcome more than 70 children’s and young adult authors and illustrators on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
The Festival is a community event which is free and open to the public. Hosted by The Albany Academies, it will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Albany Academy for Girls campus located at 140 Academy Road in Albany.
The Festival provides children of all ages…tots, teens, and in-betweens…. the opportunity to meet and greet many talented authors and illustrators. Books can be purchased at the festival for signing, or children can bring their own copies to the festival. Workshops and presentations specifically designed for adults, librarians, and teachers as well as children will continue throughout the day. The Music Mobile, Albany’s Tulip Queen, a storybook parade, and other entertainment will perform.
There will also be a prominent keynote speaker and author panel discussion to kick-off the Festival at 9:00 a.m. on April 12.
The Albany Children’s Book Festival is dedicated to nurturing literacy in school–aged children. It is our belief that every child -- in every community -- should have access to books to explore, learn from, and to stimulate their imaginations.
