Colorway Rock Trio Performs At Pauly's Hotel
Pauly's Hotel, 337 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206
It’s been a banner year for Colorway, the inventive, dynamic, guitar-centric rock trio from Northampton, MA.
From opening up for Foreigner’s sold out 2,000 capacity show at Northampton’s Calvin Theater to their inclusion in the Green River Festival (along with Peter Wolf, NRBQ, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos and tons more over three days) to performing with Television’s Richard Lloyd in Hamden, CT, the band has been spreading their music far and wide on bigger and bigger stages.
The release of their sophomore album, The Black Sky Sequined in May of 2015 garnered them rave reviews. Modern Rock Review’s Ric Albano called it “one of the finest rock albums of 2015” and when Diffuser premiered their video to the first single, “Come Back July” Chuck Armstrong called it “Impossibly Catchy.”
On Friday, January 20, Colorway is excited to return to Albany to perform at the legendary Pauly's Hotel. This will be the band’s third trip to the Capital Region, performing last winter at The Low Beat and more recently at Pauly's in October.
Bandleader Alex Johnson recently opened up for rock icon Ian Hunter for a capacity crowd at the Narrows Center For The Arts in Fall River, MA. You can see a song from his solo/electric performance here.
“It’s great to see that rock and roll is still alive and well in Albany”, says Johnson. “Trends come and go but when you strip it all down to guitar bass and drums it just makes sense and makes people happy. We love coming out here where music fans aren’t afraid to get loud.”
So come on out to see Alex and his trio at Colorway’s first—but definitely not last— Albany show of the year in the intimate setting of the capital’s oldest tavern.
