The 13th Annual Albany History Fair will be held on the grounds of Historic Cherry Hill. 2012 marks the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and Cherry Hill's second generation owner, Solomon Van Rensselaer, played a prominent role in the conflict. His military career and many of his possessions will be featured at the fair. Activities will include: period music by HeartsEase, demonstrations by Kellogg's Volunteer Artillery, New York State Militia, children's activities, exhibits by area historical organizations and presentations: Archeology and the Second Battle of Sackets Harbor (Matthew Kirk, Hartgen Archeological Associates), Albany in 1812 (Tony Opalka, City of Albany Historian), Solomon Van Rensselaer and the War of 1812 (Erin Richardson, Director of Collections, New York State Historical Association.)
