School Street Hydroelectric Plant Tour

When: Event has passed. Watch this page for updates.
Where: School Street Hydroelectric Facility, 14 North Mohawk Street, Cohoes, NY
Cost: Free

Brookfield will host public tours this summer and fall of its historic School Street hydropower facility located at 14 North Mohawk Street in Cohoes, NY. Those interested in attending the tour must pre-register and comply with unique safety requirements. Due to safety considerations, you must be at least 18 years old to take a tour.  Space is limited to 20 guests per tour, so sign up today.

Please send your name, number of participants and preferred tour date to Joanne Walsh by calling (508) 251-7718.  Once your registration is confirmed, we'll send information to you about how to prepare for your tour.

Safety is our first priority. Participants will be provided with safety equipment (hard hats and safety glasses) at the start of the tour. The American Heart Association notes that power-generating equipment can inhibit pulse generators such as pacemakers. We do not recommend any person with a pacemaker enter the plant without consulting his or her physician (find out more at AHA's website).

We would also like to note that the facility does involve some steep hills and stairs so please be aware should this cause any limitations to your participation. As a majority of the tour will take place outdoors, we recommend using sunscreen and other weather protection if necessary.
