The Stockade Association and Legere Restorations invites the public to a "meet and greet" with the iconic "Lawrence the Indian Statue."
This Tuesday, May 25 from 5-8 p.m. "Lawrence the Indian Statue," will be showcased to the public at The Van Dyck in Schenectady. It will be $20 per person at the door to participate. This will also include light refreshments and a photo with Lawrence.
For decades Lawrence the Indian has been standing on the traffic circle at Ferry & Front (in recent years, renamed Polachek Square). Lawrence has been removed while the Stockade Association pays for the base of the statue to be repaired by Legere Restoration. Once it was carefully removed and lightly cleaned, it became clear that the statue will need to be re-bronzed in the future. Proceeds will go towards future restoration of the statue.
