The Capital District Irish American Association, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Albany Democratic Committee are pleased to announce the 3rd annual Rolling for Warriors fundraiser on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1PM to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Albany County Veteran's Services Bureau.
The event will take place at Playdium Bowling Center of 363 Ontario Street, Albany. Bowling will be followed by live music, silent auction and an awards ceremony at the AOH Hall right next door at 375 Ontario Street in Albany at 3PM.
Rolling for Warriors was created in 2009 by Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran Andrew Joyce as a way to rally Albany's political and Irish-American community around the common cause of supporting those who have sacrificed so much on our behalf. "I feel it's the highest duty of any American to do what they can to care for these men and women, as well as their families, when they return home with wounds both seen and unseen" Joyce said. "Part of the healing process begins by showing them how much we care, and appreciate the sacrifices they have made".
Since its inception in 2006, Rolling for Warriors has raised over $6,000 for veteran's service related groups. It's a growing effort, with the hopes of raising $10,000 this year
