Throughout the summer, Saratoga 150 will honor military members who fought in military conflicts in the young colonies and the new nation through a series of military living history encampments in Congress Park.
June 22 and 23, will feature soldiers of the War of 1812. This war is called the Second War for American Independence as the fledging country declared war on Great Britain. British Regulars and Seamen of the Royal Navy will share their experiences invading northern New York and their devastating loss as the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1814.
Encampment Hours: Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 9-2.
Following the encampment, will be a Sunday evening musical performance, at 5 p.m., by The Schenectady Pipe Band. The band has been performing for more than 90 years and has won many awards for piping and drumming. During World War I, they performed in support of Liberty Bond Drives and in both World War I and World War II.
