The Historic St. Agnes Cemetery of Menands is offering a two-day workshop dedicated to the commemoration of life in visual form. Instructor Jaymee Harvey will assist students in creating sculpted art from every day objects. Our exhibit includes corals, sea stars, lobster, crab, sea urchins, sea horses, fossils of extinct species and their modern relatives, photos of where many of the shells were collected, seashell x-rays, microscope-enlarged photos of shells no bigger than a grain of sand. Firefighters in Action: Ever wonder how firemen use their tools to get people out of a car after a crash? Come watch a live demonstration of a vehicle extraction done by Greenport Fire Department at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting! The demonstration entitled ?Firefighter in Action!? will show children how and why safety belts can save their lives in the event of an accident. Parents will have the opportunity to have an ID made for their child, which will assist law enforcement in finding their child, should they ever be missing. The American Automobile Association (AAA) will be on site with their robot friend, Otto Auto, to discuss traffic safety with kids as well. Meet real firefighters and do crafts with fire safety themes while having lots of fun! Join us at the Museum on June 29th from 1pm until 3pm for this exciting program.
