The Historic St. Agnes Cemetery of Menands is offering a two-day workshop dedicated to the commemoration of life in visual form. Instructor Jaymee Harvey will assist students in creating sculpted art from every day objects. The class will focus on two pieces of artwork: an individual legacy sculpture, and a class legacy project. Students are encouraged to bring their own knowledge, creative energy, and materials from home, including stickers, screws, bark, ceramic figures, jewelry, and sewing needles.

Firefighters in Action: Ever wonder how firemen use their tools to get people out of a car after a crash? Come watch a live demonstration of a vehicle extraction done by Greenport Fire Department at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting! The demonstration entitled ?Firefighter in Action!? will show children how and why safety belts can save their lives in the event of an accident. Parents will have the opportunity to have an ID made for their child, which will assist law enforcement in finding their child, should they ever be missing. The American Automobile Association (AAA) will be on site with their robot friend, Otto Auto, to discuss traffic safety with kids as well. Meet real firefighters and do crafts with fire safety themes while having lots of fun! Join us at the Museum on June 29th from 1pm until 3pm for this exciting program. This program and admission to the Museum for the day is free to residents of Columbia County (with proof of residency, a drivers license, by head of household) thanks to a generous grant award from TD Bank Foundation and Provident Insurance. Regular admission rates apply for those not residing in Columbia County. This demonstration is part of the Museum?s Super Saturday program series.The Museum is located at 117 Harry Howard Avenue in Hudson, New York on the campus of the Firemen?s Home.
