"Big Night," is one of the great food movies of all time, is a witty drama with, a pair of brothers trying to succeed in the restaurant business. Primo (Tony Shalhoub) and Secondo (Stanley Tucci) have journeyed from Italy to New Jersey in the mid-1950s, determined to make a killing with an authentic Italian restaurant, The Paradise. But their food is a bit too authentic.

Sand Lake Center for the Arts' Youth Theatre Players presents "Aliens Alive", a play written and directed by Sue Frost and Val Kavanaugh. Performance dates are Sat. Aug 2 at 7pm and Sun. Aug 3 at 2:30pm. Come see these historical figures - Leonardo DaVinci played by Angus McPherson, Emily Dickinson played by Nessa Corcoran, Ben Franklin played by Noah Bonesteel, William Clark played by Savanna Rudolph, Sacajawea played by Haley Wright and Coco Chanel played by Abigail Warrender, as they manage to solve the alien's problems. But how? Come and find out! This production is the culmination of a four week class for enthusiastic youth interested in acting & being involved with a full theater production. Tickets are $4 pp and reservations can be made at 518-674-2007 or from the web site. SLCA is handicapped accessible, with plenty of free parking.

This week long program for students, ages 14-17, will be an immersion in scene-work and Master Classes led by theatre industry professionals. Students will get first-hand insight and the opportunity to hone their skills in areas such as: Scene and partner work from classic theatre pieces Character development Speech and movement for the stage Monologues Training with real life perspective Performance experience is preferred but not required. All levels are welcome. Space is limited but your potential isn't! Deadline for enrollment is July 25th.

A guided tour of Rome, a few paparazzi type encounters and finally, LOVE!

Idolize Percy Jackson? Want to fight like Athena? Believe in magic, mystery and mayhem? STAR 2014 gives you your chance. Students work side by side with professional artists to create a theatre company that works together around the theme "Greek Mythology" to create an original 45-minute performance about the gods and goddesses, and all the mischief they can cause. During their time with STAR, students will gain skills in writing, costume design, dancing, acting and singing. In a real-world, professional theatre environment, these young producers, performers and writers will learn to work cooperatively with one another thanks to guidance from our professional staff. Our students are given the freedom to let loose their creative energies and work together to build a show of mythological proportions!

Ship­wrecking the audience onto the untamed shores of Prospero's enchanted island, the battle between civilized society and the passions that boil tempestuously just under its surface has never been explored so deeply, in such a wild and immersive setting. A diverse cast supported by African dance and music make this production of the Tempest a unique and entertaining experience that's sure to provide thrills and laughter to the whole community!
