Thoughts from "Four Hour Workweek" by Timothy Ferriss

One of my favorite HR and Career related books is The Four Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss.

Some of the key principles I received from this book include

1.  How to speed read - there's an excellent excerpt in the book on how to read faster and with more effectiveness.  By focusing on certain keywords in each sentence, you can increase your reading speed exponentially.

2.  Learning how to say no and to delegate better.   Sometimes our own worst enemy is taking on too much work.   Tim mentions several great resources for how to delegate work, and take on only work that will bring in more revenue.

3.  How to market yourself and your business - he mentions "giving a one to three hour seminar free at a local university" as an effective way to get your name out there.

4.  "Read top selling books on your topic and summarize each on one page."  Using this method, you can share great knowledge with others and be seen as an expert in your field.
