A new center for performing arts in Troy will hold over two weeks of grand opening events and performances in October |
TROY NY — EMPAC, a new performing arts center in Troy NY will hold its grand opening festival October 3 - 19! The brand new, state-of-the-art venue is a multifunctional center for art, science and technology, founded by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
The first weekend of the opening celebration, October 3 - 5, will highlight the wide range of arts that can be accommodated by EMPAC. According to the EMPAC website, the first weekend will present classical music, performed in an acoustically pure environment, interactive multimedia works, research exhibitions and more.
The second weekend, October 9 - 12, will put the spotlight on research, science and technology at EMPAC. The venue will host a symposium featuring eminent researchers from the science and engineering communities and allow for relevant topic discussion.
The third weekend, October 16-19, falls on Rensselaer’s Family Weekend and will feature artistic performances ranging in media and style, and chosen in collaboration with Student Life, with the intent of reflecting the interests of the Rensselaer student body.
Throughout the opening events and performances, EMPAC will feature exhibits detailing the venue's architectural and artistic history, as well as its future potential as an important research platform.
