Outdoor Activities Galore

Thompson's Lake Campground is the perfect place for a nature-filled getaway! Four miles from the Helderberg Escarpment and 18 miles southwest of Albany, the campground and day use area offers a sandy beach, 140 wooded campsites, open fields, and recreational fun. Play volleyball or horseshoe to build an appetite, catch a big one at one of the fishing areas on the lake, or explore the wilderness on nature trails.

The campground also offers kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddleboard rentals for those looking to get out on the water! Throughout the summer, interpretive and recreational programs are provided to campers. This destination is a great option even in the winter, as visitors can cross-country ski, ice fish, and snowshoe.

Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center

The Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center provides a unique opportunity for campers to explore and learn. Located conveniently next to the campground, the center overlooks Thompson's Lake and offers visitors an array of interactive exhibits, educational programs, and trails perfect for hiking or skiing.

The nature center is open year-round, Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. It is located at 87 Nature Center Way in Voorheesville and can be reached by calling 518.872.0800.
