user-pic
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. The City of Troy will have a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a September 11th memorial on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

In memorium, the city of Troy will begin breaking ground at 112th Street Bridge near 112th Street and First Avenue, with intention to build and dedicate a memorial in time for the anniversary.

The memorial will include an elevated model of the two towers, in a central monument surrounded by several walkways.

The Troy September 11th Memorial Coordinating Committee is continuing to accept donations for the projects. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Troy September 11th Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 109, Troy, NY 12182. Donations of labor and materials must first contact Jim Gordon at 365-2270.

A ceremony for the groundbreaking with Mayor Harry Tuntunhian will begin at 10:30am on Tuesday Jul 12 on site.

Our thoughts and prayers are still with these victims and their families.
