Do you find yourself on Amtrak trains often, looking for things to fill your time? Well, now you have an answer - anything (or most anything...that you can find on the internet at least)!

There have been a lot of businesses closing lately - like the Borders in Saratoga - and unfortunately there are more to add to that list. But the good outweighs the bad as there are two new bars opening as well! 

As for the closing, Joe's Tavern in Cohoes closes today (that is, Friday February 18) after being open for seven decades - but the restaurant is for sale or lease for interested parties. 

A sports bar is opening at the end of the month in Latham, called 'On Tap.' They will have a large selection of beer and a 'unique menu for a sports bar' - according to the Times Union, but I wonder what that means.... - and will be at the Holiday Inn Express on Loudon Road. 

And right in Albany a new jazz bar recently opened at 69 North Pearl St. The place is called Figure 10 and the menu, at one point or another, apparently had some pretty laughable misspellings, including 'Cherdder' cheese nachos. The menu has been fixed - but honestly, if the food is good, who cares how they spell it?    

The Tri-City ValleyCats have named the four fields that they will be renovating in 24 hours - one day! - from midday April 15 through midday April 16.

The fields are Westland Hills Little League in Albany, Ballston Spa Jr. Baseball League in Ballston Spa, Northside Little League in Schenectady, and Scotia-Glenville Little League in Scotia.

Yup, thats right - RPI grads helped build the computer database - Watson - that's now on Jeopardy. The computer that tramples Ken Jennings and Jeopardy champions. Think you could take Watson on?   

Thought not. 

Several members from the IBM team that designed the program knowledge base graduated from RPI - and the RPI campus is actually having some events over the next few days to let students explore and get to know Watson and what it does and what it could be capable of.
