This past weekend, the ValleyCats minor league baseball team was hard at work, completely renovating 4 local youth baseball fields in just 24 hours.



The newly renovated fields include Westland Hills field in Albany, the Ballston Spa Jr. Baseball League field in Ballston Spa, the Northside Little League field in Schenectady and the Scotia-Glenville Little League field in Scotia. In past years, Albany Tulip Fest attendees would tote along their coolers filled with cold alcoholic beverages of their liking, staking their spots on the lawn in front of the stage, without worry or concern that there would be any problems. Well all that is about to change...
It's a sure sign of spring! The USS SLATER returned to Albany last week and is open to the public today. This impressive craft looks like a giant game piece from the Battleship games.

The USS SLATER is the only restored World War II destroyer escort still afloat in the United States. The fully-guided tour is like a 1940's time capsule, which emphasizes the technology, lifestyle and conditions the USS SLATER sailors endured.

While many college students are sitting in front of their TV, playing racing games in their spare time, a group of students at RPI is actually building a real life racecar.

And this isn't just any racecar...

The Corner Bar is a new downtown Albany bar now open at North Pearl Street and Sheridan Avenue. This weekend is a soft opening where they will be serving drinks and complimentary pub fare on Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm to close.
