Fun Activities Near Albany To Enjoy This Winter
Ice Skating - Get your skates sharpened and your laces tied, 'cuz it's time to ice skate! Wilderness Recreation & Education Center in Caroga Lake, Windham Mountain in the Catksills and Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid all offer outdoor ice skating rinks. Prefer to be indoors? Head half hour north of Albany to go indoor ice skating at the Saratoga Springs Ice Rink.
Snow Tubing - Glide effortlessly down a winter hill or at a tubing park! A handful of ski mountain resorts also offer tubing including West Mountain in the foothills of the Southern Adirondacks as well as Windham Mountain and Plattekill in the Catskills. You can also take a day trip to Gloversville for snow tubing and snowmobiling at Arctic Circle Ski Center.
Winter Fun Day Trips
Embark on a scenic 2 hour drive north for endless winter fun in Lake Placid, New York. Whiteface Mountain offers ice skating, bobsled rides, figure skating, the Olympic Center, Olympic Jumping Complex, Olympic Museum, and the Olympic Sports Complex. Before heading back, peruse the quaint Adirondack village for excellent shopping and dining.
Come to Lake George and the southern Adirondacks for gorgeous scenery and plenty of winter attractions! Go to the indoor water park at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge for wet and wild fun. Have fun going horseback riding or on a horse drawn sleigh ride in Warrensburg or Lake George, just about an hour's drive from Albany and minutes from Gore.
Explore Old Forge NY for winter bird watching, nordic and alpine skiing, some of the best snowmobiling around, as well as ice skating and ice fishing on ten miles of frozen lakes.
