Overview

The Capital Region's most celebrated music school offers comprehensive music education to students ages 4 and up and short-term classes for children as young as age 2. We also offer classes for adults and for students with special needs.

The Music Studio, founded in 1977, provides a comprehensive musical education that exists nowhere else. Its classrooms, instruments, curriculum, and faculty are all finely-tuned to fulfill their singular task: giving children the skills and desire to achieve musical excellence, and through that to strengthen their minds and enrich their lives.

The heart of The Music Studio is the Foundation Program, a school-year program for children from ages 4 to 8, in which experience faculty focus a child's natural musical abilities and desire to learn on every aspect of musicianship: rhythm, pitch, dynamics, note-reading, theory, keyboard, and more. After the Foundation Program, students enter the Piano Program, where they continue their musical studies but focus more exclusively on the piano, and prepare for regular recitals and evaluations in a supportive but challenging environment.

The Music Studio also offers Recreational Piano classes for adults, classes and private instruction for Children with Special Needs, and Music for the Young Classes for children 2 to 7.

Summer classes are enrolling now and classes are filling for Fall 2019. Give your child the lifelong gift of music: sign up now!

Exceptional Early Childhood Music Education at The Music Studio in Albany NY
When thinking about signing your preschoolers or young children up for music lessons many questions come up. What age is the right age - should we be starting so young? Do they need to learn these skills in a music studio, or would lessons later on at school suffice? What if I don't know anything about music myself?
