Go West this winter! Conveniently located just 3 miles off I-87's Exit 18, West Mountain Ski Area is NY State's premier destination for outdoor and family-friendly winter fun, including downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing.
About West Mountain
West Mountain is nestled in the Town of Queensbury and offers stunning views of the nearby Hudson River and Adirondack mountains. Since it first opened over 50 years ago, the medium-sized ski resort has transformed and now features 125 acres with 31 trails and 1,000 feet of vertical drop.
They also have a dedicated snowmaking and grooming crew that can cover 80% of the terrain in snow, so when the weather doesn't cooperate, families can still enjoy winter activities at the mountain.
Perfect for skiers, snowboarders, and snow tubers, West Mountain is the place to be during the snowy months of winter.
Plan a Winter Outing to West
The ski resort is home to a variety of downhill skiing/snowboarding trails ranging from beginner to expert level. These trails are accessible via the three chairlifts, and many of them are lighted and open for night skiing.
West Mountain wants everyone, no matter their skill level or interests, to be able to have a memorable time during their time there. From the Snow Tubing Park to the downhill trails and terrain parks, there is plenty to do and see at this family-friendly resort.
Don't have your own gear? No worries! All you have to do is stop by the rental/tuning pro shop near the Main Lodge. They'll make sure you're fully outfitted with the right gear for your day at West. If you do own your own skis or snowboard, you can get them tuned there too.
There are two great dining options offered at West's Main Lodge: The East Slope Bar & Eatery and the Cafeteria. Both are available for events and parties.
- The East Slope Bar & Eatery - Located on the second floor of the Main Lodge, this restaurant features food, drinks, and entertainment (live music, trivia, and more).
- The Cafeteria - This line-style cafeteria is located on the first floor of the Main Lodge and has plenty of food and drink options for you and your family.
Enjoy the Off-Season
While West Mountain offers tons of activities during winter, you can also stop by during their off-season for even more outdoor fun. Some of their warm weather activities include mountain biking, hiking, and scenic chairlift rides (perfect for leaf peeping).
