16th Annual Empty Bowls of Troy
The Empty Bowls Program is a wonderful grassroots movement that has brought artists, chefs, and communities together to help raise money for local food programs. Started nearly 20 years ago, it spread throughout the country to raise money and awareness about hunger.
Right here in the Capital District, potters, organized by the Collar City Clay Guild, are busy handthrowing and handbuilding bowls to donate to the 16th Annual Empty Bowls.
Given the continuing uncertainty of COVID safety recommendations, the Collar City Clay Guild will be conducting our annual Empty Bowls fundraiser at the Troy Riverfront Farmers Market for a second year on three consecutive Saturdays in October. Last year, we raised nearly $23,000 to support local food pantries and this year, we want to exceed that goal since food insecurity is as significant a problem as ever.
All bowls will cost $20 (cash/check only) and include a coupon for a free bowl of soup. No soup will be served at the event.
