Liz Phair at MASS MoCA
Legendary indie darling Liz Phair rocketed onto the 90s stage with her raw, empowering lyrics about sex and relationships. Exile in Guyville, her 1993 gold-selling studio debut, and its beloved followup Whip Smart became the soundtrack of a generation of girls ready for anarchy and honesty. More than two decades later, with Grammy nominations, Rolling Stone covers, and heaps of critical acclaim, Phair’s influence can still be felt as emerging artists channel her blunt rock energy.
