About this event

The Woman’s Club of Albany will open its beautiful and historic, Gilded Age house, located at 725 Madison Ave., Albany, for its eagerly anticipated annual Tulip Tea on Saturday, May 17, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 p.m..

Members of the club will circulate among our seated guests, serving a variety of teas, finger sandwiches and desserts, using elegant antique and vintage tea sets from the home’s collection. Our fingers are crossed that tulips lining our front walkway will be in full bloom!

Guests will be able to bid on and have a good chance at winning one (or more!) wonderful raffle baskets, which previously have featured tea settings and teas, wine, food, jewelry, decorative objects and art, and gift certificates.

Reservations are required by May 11 and can be made for individuals or seating groups. Register early if accessible seating is needed and request the first floor; the second floor of the Woman’s Club is not ADA accessible. Gluten-free or vegetarian food options should also be indicated when making your reservation(s).

The Woman’s Club is the owner/steward of the Madison Avenue house built in 1895 for Albany clothier Joseph Steefel and his wife Hattie. The house is used for club gatherings and for community programs open to the public. Scenes from HBO's The Gilded Age were filmed in the home's dining room. The house also is available as a rental venue.

Proceeds from the Tulip Tea will benefit The Woman’s Club of Albany, a non-profit organization founded in 1910 to improve conditions for women and children in Albany. The Woman’s Club continues that mission today, providing support to other non-profit groups throughout the Capital Region that offer direct services to women and children.
