You do not need to have your significant other, children, or pets in the photo. The employer wants to see who the candidate is. Make sure you smile. You do not want to come off as being sad, angry, or too serious. Try to have a solid background with good lighting. We want your face to be the focus so try not to use a photo with bad lighting or dark shadows. Also you should use appropriate attire or dress professionally. The employer does not want to see your beach or club clothing.
