Entering the workforce after college graduation can seem intimidating; job postings often require years of experience that many recent grads don’t have, and without professional connections, getting a foot in the door can seem daunting. However, recent college graduates are often a valuable market because, while their real-world experience may be low, their course experience is very recent. It is also economical to hire recent college graduates, because they are able to take entry level positions and learn on the job.

Targeting recent college graduates may start while students are still enrolled in universities. Using platforms such as Handshake, that have direct relationships with colleges, are great ways to create relationships with institutions. Students are more likely to trust a job posting that they see on a platform endorsed by their university. Creating a presence on campus through job fairs is another way to build a relationship with schools and their students. Similarly, having a relevant online presence makes companies easily accessible to students and recent graduates.

Offering free reviews of resumes as well as mock interviews (on campus or virtually) is an example of how to make your company known to students. Internship programs with direct pipelines to connections in the business world and potentially even full time positions after graduation is one way to build up experience and marketability of recent college graduates.
