The lively, bustling Town of Colonie is located within the Capital District area and offers a combination of urban excitement and residential appeal. Its close proximity to the capital city of Albany provides a dynamic environment that fosters rigorous and continued economic growth.

Its close proximity to Albany ensures an easy route in and out of the city, with Albany International Airport just three miles away, and only nine miles to Albany/Rennselaer Amtrak station.

Colonie schools demand and provide excellence for their students. The North Colonie School District was selected as the top school district out of 85 area schools by the Capital District Business Review for 2005-2006. Shaker High School graduated 97% of its seniors with Regents Diplomas.
