In the United States of America we are at risk of a deadly disease because our government can’t contain it. EBOLA healthcare workers speak of isolation as being a violation of their basic human rights. Simply speaking, what about the fact their decision to go to other countries to help people in need is exemplary. However, how does that give them the basic human right to potentially infect innocent humans here in America, who did not take on the risk involved with their endeavors? It is against my basic human rights to have a public health possible pandemic wipe out my family, my colleagues, my neighbors or my community because they decided to be a humanitarian. As such, wouldn’t it be those humanitarians who would be the first to protect their fellow USA citizens against such a potentially fatal disease? It makes me question the humanitarian in all of them if they would for one second put anyone at risk because they feel your basic human rights were being violated. My fellow American citizens, do not be complacent right now. This situation will set precedence for future incidences where our well-being is being jeopardized. I, as a lay person, would not mind be in isolation if it was to protect mankind, would you?
