How many times do we withhold only for what or with whom we deem worthy of giving unto? Isn’t the true meaning of giving – to give to those that maybe less fortunate than others. Than why would we only hold out to those we deem worthy…Worthy of what? Your ideals? or specifications of what meets your standards of being worthy? Oh! Well, they are i.e. ungrateful, or drunks, druggies, dirty, poor, uneducated, selfish, belligerent, mean, old, young, immature, psychotic, unfaithful, cheaters and/or narcissistic- to name a few….. As a christian, I am learning to go back to my younger years when helping others meant ” labels” were not part of the criteria. I wonder , where along the trail did conditions come to giving ourselves to others? In my faith, our maker reached out to the most needy despite any societal or individual titles that were cast onto them. Often, I have seen those with less, to be the most giving and loyal. Fellowship is a lost trait in our society but the most needed for sustainability of families, friends and our communities. Whether or not afflictions are embedded in our lives, being a person of “Good” character involves developing those human traits that can be emulated by others and passed on. Are you a person of Good character? Many of us may answer yes, but is your character traits built off of what you deem to be worthy of? Think before you speak!!! Broaden the circle of acts of kindness!!! However, protect yourself where you must!!! BUT NEVER place conditions on goodness and compassion from the heart—–It will only harden the SOUL!
