The Cohoes Farmers’ Market will be the site and sponsor of a culinary competition between three local politicians.
Cohoes Mayor John McDonald, Green Island Mayor Ellen McNulty-Ryan, and Town of Colonie Supervisor Paula Mahan will compete in an “Iron Chef”-like culinary competition today at 5pm. Each contestant is allowed one item from every farmer at the market, and is given one hour to make a dish of their choice.
The final products will be judged by Mark Quandt, executive director of the Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York, and Steve Parnes, writer of Table Hopping, a food blog at TimesUnion.com
The market, held in the municipal lot at 185 Remsen St., across from BeauKnits Ltd. and Harmony House Marketplace, is open 4 to 7 p.m.; the competition begins at 5 p.m.
