Want to get to Manhattan from Albany in about an hour, potentially? Well, that could be happening in 2012, or thereabouts.
There is a strong potential, as determined by a pro-high-speed-rail group, America 2050, for a high speed rail line between the nation’s capital and the Big Apple.
The Albany-NYC rail
is one of a number considered for the project. Some other top considerations
are NYC-DC, Boston-NYC and NYC-Philadelphia. Each possibility was given a
“corridor score” to rank them based on a set of criteria including
regional population, connectivity employment, population growth factor, among many others.
The new commute indeed…and Manhattan would be a viable day trip with high speed rail. Albany could do well making the investment.
