Siena baseball player, Dan Paolini was drafted by the Seattle
Mariners in the Major League Baseball draft earlier this week. But Paolini going pro shouldn’t be a surprise…
The Siena
second baseman currently holds the record for most home runs in the
Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference! Paolini had been in contact with Mariners
scouts earlier in the year, so when he was chosen in the 10th round
it was no shock.
Paolini, who just completed his junior year at Siena, will probably not be
returning to the Saints for his senior season.
A native of Stratford, Connecticut,
Paolini already holds Siena’s
records with 56 home runs, and a .380 batting average. As the 303rd draft pick, he is the
fourth highest draft pick in the Saints history.
The Mariners also selected another second baseman in
Tuesday’s draft, but Paolini boasts an impressive history. The two-time Rookie
of the Year and Player of the Year for the league, Paolini was the only draft
pick from New York
for the west coast Mariners, and it’s easy to see why.
Stay tuned for news of Paolini officially signing with the
Mariners and other exciting news from his promising major league baseball
career.
