The main branch of the First National Bank of Scotia is going to be robbed on July 27. The police know about this, the bank knows
about this, and even you and I know about this! Why isn’t anyone doing anything
about it?
Well, the bank (and everyone else) is okay with this theft
because it’s all part of the Indie movie “The Place Beyond the Pines.” The movie about a professional motorcycle
rider (Gosling) turned bank robber is being filmed almost entirely in the Schenectady area.
The bank, located at 201 Mohawk Ave in Scotia,
is one of many local spots where scenes for “The Place Beyond the Pines” will
be filmed.
The bank will be open the 27th, although the
lobby and parking lot will not be open to the public. A dozen or so tellers will be featured as
extras in the scene. Jealous of those making an appearance in the film? Don’t
be! There are still many local scenes to be shot and your opportunity to be an
extra could still be coming!
The movie, due to be released in 2013, stars Ryan Gosling,
Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes. These megastars will be around the area until
October when filming is slated to finish.
