When I think of Howe Caverns, I think of descending deep into the earth. Getting off that elevator 160 feet below the earth’s surface and stepping out into the dark, damp cave.
But this year’s new attraction, the Howe High Adventure, totally changes all that with an exhilarating adventure above the ground… and I mean, way above the ground…
The new Four-Tower Zip Line is 950 feet long, and suspends riders 40 feet in the air! The scenic, aerial ride is divided into four segments and offers some beautiful views.
If you’re looking for a real challenge, try the Sky Trail Ropes Course. Visitors will go through a series of surprising and increasingly difficult challenges while being suspended high above the earth.
The grand opening for the new Howe High Adventure section was just yesterday, August 4th, so I have not had a chance to get out there yet, but you can view a video below to get a feel for the thrill. And if you feel like flying high on your next visit to Howe Caverns, take a ride on the zip lines or test your abilities on the high ropes course, and be sure to tell us about it. Both are now open!
There is also an outdoor pavilion under construction, which will be a great place to hold future birthday parties, company outings and special events.
Who would have thought? After a day of spelunking, that you could test your strength and endurance, dangling above the earth surface.
Want to take a look so you know what to expect?
Now I wonder if this is going to change their tagline at all. Currently: Go Underground. More appropriate now might be: Go Underground… Or not. Anyone got anything better?
