There is a new coffee shop open on Jay Street in Schenectady called The Happy Cappuccino.
They had a soft opening on Friday, September 30, 2011 — not quite a month ago — and they will be holding a grand opening ribbon cutting next month, Tuesday, November 15th. But I don’t think I’ll be waiting quite that long to pay them a visit…
“The Happy Cappuccino” – the name is genius, not to mention their logo looks like a smiling mug (how cute is that?), but it’s the promise of great coffee that draws me.
Owner Matthew Robbins opened The Happy Cappuccino with a focus on the quality of the coffee, not just carelessly opening a coffee shop, but according to the Daily Gazette, hired “a coffee consultant who taught him… the intricacies of properly mixing a drink.”
So I’m guessing their drinks are top notch.
Their Facebook page says they offer: Coffee, Cappuccino, Espresso, Latte, Mocha, Tea, Smoothies. Hot, frozen or iced drinks. Live music and local art.
…but as I’m looking through their Facebook photos (after drooling over their pumpkin latte pic for about 2 minutes (pictured at right)), I notice they also have cheesecake bites, muffins, scones and other baked goods that look delicious.
The Happy Cappuccino is located at 181-185 Jay Street in Schenectady.
Their hours:
Mon – Wed: | 6:30 am | – | 5:30 pm |
Thu – Fri: | 6:30 pm | – | 9:00 pm |

I have yet to try this place out. Has anyone been?
