Have you seen any of the roast specials on Comedy Central? A roast is an event in which a team of fans, friends and comedians get together to tell stories which insult, praise or make jokes about a particular person (roastee). The roastee is someone who is able to take the jokes in good humor, and not as serious insult or criticism, showing their good nature.
I’m sure some of you have seen the Comedy Central Roasts of Denis Leary, Bob Saget, Donald Trump, and most recently, Charlie Sheen. Next week you’ll get the chance to see a roast right here in Albany, with Mayor Jerry Jennings sitting in the hot seat.
That’s right, Mayor Jennings will be getting roasted next Wednesday, October 12th. The Mayor will be roasted by Bob Wolf, or PYX 106’s Wakin’ Up With The Wolf, former Albany police chief James Tuffey along with his personal investigator, comedian Steve Sarsfield, an unknown roaster and more!
The doors of Savannah’s, on South Pearl Street in Albany, will open at 7pm, with the show starting at 8pm. There is a $10 minimum donation for general admission (at the door), or you can reserve a table for four for $50. Table reservations can be made in advance by calling Savannah’s at (518) 426-9647.
The evening will be hosted by Ralph Renna, and with the help of The American Red Cross, Capital Underground Radio and Mayor Jennings, all proceeds from the event will be donated to local hurricane relief.
I personally love the roasts on Comedy Central, however I wonder if the humor for this one will be in the same taste. The comics on TV really push the envelope on some jokes. At any rate, a fun night of jokes and humor to help out our community in need!
