There is nothing quite like Cookie Factory goodies. Just ask my 2 year old! Her great grandmother “Marme” works at their current location on Congress Street in Troy. Every time we go, we end up leaving with much more than we originally planned.
From rich fudge brownies and sugary cookies to creamy cheesecake and other sweet treats, The Cookie Factory is a favorite in our house!
That’s where we get our birthday cakes, fresh breads and afternoon sweet tooth fixes.
Now, according to a recent article in the TU, The Cookie Factory hopes to expand their reach with a new (much bigger) location planned just a few minutes away.
According to Brian Nearing of the TU, the owners of the Cookie Factory have their eye on an old meat processing plant on River Street in Troy (the Levonian Brothers building). The current owners of the building had some problems with delinquent taxes, so the city is foreclosing on the property.
The new location would greatly increase the Cookie Factory’s workspace (more than triple the square footage, actually), which is crucial in keeping up with their current production rate. Not only does the Cookie Factory serve drop-in customers at its storefront, but they also take special orders for parties, wedding cakes and other celebrations. My husband and I ordered over 200 cookies as wedding favors for our guests a few years back, and everyone was raving about them!
In addition to all this, the Cookie Factory has loyal supermarket and restaurant customers who sell their specialty sweets. With all this business, it’s no wonder they have outgrown their Congress Street location!
I’m guessing the move won’t happen until late summer this year if it happens. The Cookie Factory plans to hire additional employees after the expansion, which means more jobs for locals in addition to more cookies. What could be better?
Have you ever had sweets or fresh rolls from The Cookie Factory? What did you think?
