The ValleyCats are looking for a talented individual (or group of individuals) to perform the National Anthem at the Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy this season. The winner will be selected by a process reminiscent of an American Idol judging / public voting system.
Got some pipes? You can audition at the ValleyCat’s 2nd Annual National Anthem Tryouts on Saturday, May 19 at Crossgates Mall from 9 am to 1 pm. You can audition with either the National Anthem or God Bless America, and only non-electric accompanying instruments are allowed.
A panel of judges will select five finalists…. and then the public voting begins!
The five finalists will record their version of the National Anthem, and then be placed on the ValleyCats’ website where visitors can vote. After a week of voting, the votes will be tallied and a winner announced.
“We know there are a ton of talented performers in the Capital Region, and we want to give them a chance to have the honor of performing the National Anthem in front of our fans at ‘The Joe,'” says Michelle Skinner, ValleyCats Fan Development Manager.
According to the press release distributed by the ValleyCats, the winner will get to sing the National Anthem on a selected premium fireworks night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, which draws an average of 5,000 fans. Other contestants may be selected to perform at the ballpark as well.
