Did you know downtown Troy’s Riverfront Park is undergoing a complete transformation?
Elizabeth Young, Executive Director for the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID) toured the park this morning and was inspired by the progress taking place there. Young takes us on a journey through the newly developing Riverfront Park in downtown Troy, detailing what she saw and the future of the park, along with a couple of photos.
“Walking through the construction site this morning was inspiring. The new park is incredibly open, with oodles of usable space, both for events, and for the every day park-goer! The amphitheater has stepped, grassy seating, providing a nice place to lounge and watch the river, even if there isn’t a show going on.
“Several large lawn spaces will be perfect for a game of tag, or a picnic. When it’s hot, there is an interactive water feature for kids to play in. The City of Troy has made sure the park is set-up technically – there is power and water (important for events!) lots of lighting, including up-lighting of flags and memorials – even free wi-fi!
“The new and much improved Riverfront Park is sure to be a central gathering place for anyone who lives, works, or visits Downtown Troy! I couldn’t be more excited that the Troy Pig Out on July 14th and 15th will be the first-ever event held in the park. We plan on kicking it off right!”

Special thanks to Elizabeth Young for contributing her photo and sharing the progress with us. The water feature sounds like something my two-year-old will love, and of course the hubby’s always hungry for some BBQ, so Troy Pig Out sounds like the perfect time to check out the new Riverfront Park in Troy. See you there!
