The Price Chopper Capital Holiday Lights in the Park are now live for this year’s Silver and Gold Celebration! The display in Washington Park is back for its 17th year and celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Albany Police Athletic League’s youth programs. You can see the 125 remarkable light displays now through January 3rd, 2014!
This year, visitors will see classic holiday scenes, and some new additions to the display. At the end of the drive, you can meet Santa and other costumed characters! There are also opportunities to walk, bike, and even ride carriages through the lights.
The Price Chopper Capital Holiday Lights are a great opportunity to get the family together for a good old-fashioned drive. Put down the the smart-phones and gadgets and look out the window at the marvelous displays. Plus, there’s a chance you’ll see a once-in-a-lifetime scene: visitors at this year’s opening night witnessed a young man propose to his girlfriend, complete with a flashing traffic sign reading, “Will you marry me?”
Proceeds from the lights benefit the youth programs of Albany PAL. The program now serves over 3,000 youth in area. In order to produce Price Chopper Capital Holiday Lights, Albany PAL relies heavily on volunteers. “The time, talent and commitment of our volunteers is unbelievable. We can’t ever thank them enough,” said Albany PAL’s Executive Director Sgt. (Ret.) Lenny Ricchiuti.
